David’s telltale of Himself

Music is the best thing in the world. There’s nothing that moves me more than music. If I could choose, I’d turn music into a fulltime occupation and do nothing else. The guitar is my instrument of choice and no one’s better at it than Mark Knopfler. His smokey blues guitars and storytelling songs speak to me like nothing else and, as a guitarist, I always strive towards his level of being one with the guitar.

Originally I come from Umeå, Sweden, were I was born. The first twenty years of my life I spent in Stockholm and I had a blast growing up in this pine-covered country. I attended Sätra primary and Brännkyrka high school. Eventually I got bored and needed to see something different, so I went down under. That’s how I ended up studying History at Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia. Environmentalism, politics, religion and social science are also part of my life. I want to know how the world works and what I can do to change it.

Aesthetics is another area that interests me, like photography, art, industrial design and so on. A picture or an object is never just a whole but a collection of details and more details that together form something greater. Those details and that which they make up are what interest me. The tiniest change to a detail often leads to a huge change in the whole. That’s pretty cool.

Saab caught my attention when I was thirteen and has remained with me since. Their cars fascinate me in a way no other cars do, especially in terms of design, and I’m lucky to have owned four of them. The older ones excite me the most, with the 900 Turbo being the coolest of them all. This car is in my eyes all that Saab stands for: innovative visual and practical design, responsible performance, practicality and outstanding safety.
